The Atlanta Braves have a hole in their lineup. We take a look at who is left in free agency to fill the void left by Josh Donaldson.

With Josh Donaldson signing with the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night, the Atlanta Braves are left to address their number one need.

The issue for the Braves now is to get a big bat behind Freeman. They need an impact bat to bridge the gap between Freeman and Nick Markakis, Travis d’Arnaud, and whoever else ends up in the back half of the lineup.

This may mean they go after an outfielder or an infielder and work the defense around the lineup.

We’ve covered the potential pursuit of Marcell Ozuna and Nicholas Castellanos, and that would likely mean Austin Riley and Johan Camargo open the season duking it out for playing time at third.

If we acquire a third baseman (via trade or otherwise) then the Braves will depend on someone stepping up in the outfield.

Whether that’s a platoon between Nick Markakis and Adam Duvall in left field, or Austin Riley and Johan eating into the playing time, someone has to step up.

We are going to take a look at the top 50 free agents according to CBS Sports and cover the possibility of the Braves acquiring each one.

We will also analyze how that might affect the defensive positioning and what opportunities that might open up for players currently on the Braves roster.

Keep in mind, losing Donaldson hurts but this could be just the spark that lights a fire under Austin Riley or Johan Camargo to take the next step.

Bringing in a big outfield piece might allow the Braves to lengthen the lineup even more.

Let’s take a look at who’s left in free agency and if they might be a fit.
