We take a look at some of the win projections out there for the Atlanta Braves for the upcoming 2020 season after missing out on Josh Donaldson.

As Atlanta Braves fans we all know how meaningless preseason projections can be. The last two seasons the Braves weren’t even given much of a chance to make the postseason, much less win the NL East.

In another offseason where everyone in the NL East appears to be gearing up for a postseason run, the back-to-back NL East champs aren’t likely to get much love again.

But that’s OK, we know what this team is capable of.

It’s still fun to look at and discuss win projections before the season starts as it gives us something to debate when not much is going on.

Let’s look at a couple of early projections and see where they have the Braves with their current roster.

The Action Network picked Atlanta to win the division with 89 wins when they updated their projections back on January 6. But its’ really tight between the top four as they’re only separated by four games.

Caesars Casino put the over/under for the Braves win total in 2020 at 91, which was surprising. Again that was the highest total for an NL East team with Washington right behind them at 89.5 wins.

Back on January 9 FanDuel put out their win totals for the 2020 season and had the Braves fourth highest in all of baseball at 91.5 with the Nationals behind them in the NL East at 89.5.

One site that really doesn’t like the Braves is RotoChamp who currently has Atlanta finishing fourth in the division with just 83 wins and that was updated on January 19 after the Donaldson signing.

The past two seasons the Braves have won 90 and 97 games.

Without someone to fill the void left by Josh Donaldson, predicting 89-91 wins seems fair.

It would have been curious to see how much those numbers changed if Donaldson would have signed. Or how much they do change once Alex Anthopoulos finds that clean-up hitter — and he will.
