Kris Bryant is the answer for the Atlanta Braves, just not at third base

The Atlanta Braves have a need for a big time bat, and Kris Bryant may be the best solution at this point, but just not at third base.

The next big question to be answered in the baseball world should be the grievance between Kris Bryant and the Chicago Cubs. Why it has taken this long is a question I (along with many others) cannot answer.  I do know that it is holding up possible trade talks between the Chicago Cubs and other clubs around the league… most likely including the Atlanta Braves.

It’s a grievance that everyone is almost 99.9% sure he won’t win, which would keep his team control at two years. Yes, his bat is something the Atlanta Braves need, they just don’t need it at third base.  The Atlanta Braves need Bryant’s bat in left field.

I still have confidence in Austin Riley and Johan Camargo. It was less than a year ago that Riley was one of the top prospects in baseball and one cold streak shouldn’t end that (I will admit it was a long and nasty cold streak though). I prefer to have Camargo as a super utility guy who can provide just about anyone on the team a day off here and there.

With that being said, I do not have the same amount of confidence in Adam Duvall and Nick Markakis.

I see nothing more of Markakis at this point than a fourth outfielder. A good one at that, but I see Markakis glory days long past and I cringe at the thought of him still being our 5 hole hitter.

Nick was a wonderful addition to the team, but his purpose was the rebuild, not to be a main cog on the contending side of things. That’s the cold reality of the situation. Duvall at this point is a contract worth moving to save every penny we can for the midseason trading deadline.

Another key component mentioning the desire to put Bryant on the outfield grass over the hot corner is simply his defense at third is below average. No, his outfield defense is probably not going to be great but it should be passable.

With the Cubs, Bryant was moved around all over the diamond, but in this scenario, the Atlanta Braves would put him in one spot and let him (hopefully) improve on the defense.

Yes, my hope was for Josh Donaldson to be back, but Kris Bryant is on a close level with him. After all, he just finished his 5th season as a major leaguer, and he has finished in the top 11 of MVP voting three times already.

Next. Life With Riley. dark

His bat would be more than enough protection for Freddie Freeman in the Braves lineup.
