Spring training is just around the corner, and it feels like the Atlanta Braves might be done spending money to upgrade the roster.

That’s not a big deal as the Atlanta Braves currently sit just north of $150 million for team payroll. That number could be swayed a tad bit more or less depending on the outcome of a few different scenarios.

The aforementioned $150 million would easily be the largest payroll for the team in its history.

We are surely headed for our second straight year of being above the league average for team payroll. That has not been done by the Atlanta Braves since the early 2000s. So maybe we can stop with the Liberty Media is cheap talk we have all heard for years.

A quick recap here. So far this Winter, the Atlanta Braves have signed the following players to the MLB roster.

While the Braves were busy, they did not tie up a ton of the future payroll but we will get more to that in a little bit.

While no one knows the exact total of what the Atlanta Braves can spend, it surely doesn’t hurt that the Atlanta Braves are playing good baseball and packing the stadium most of the time.

Obviously, in turn, the battery is buzzing when that’s the case and therefore the Braves and Liberty Media are turning in a profit where they would hopefully turn back in and invest into the team.

That’s all we are going to talk about on that though because trust me, when you speak of the Braves and ownership…you are opening a big box that get’s messy. I will leave that to the others.

Some items that can still influence the payroll include the arbitration decision on Shane Greene, and if Felix Hernandez, Charlie Culberson, and Yengarvis Solarte all make the team out of spring training. Before that happens, no one will know the team’s true payroll.
