The Atlanta Braves were recently listed by BetOnline.com as having the second-best odds of landing the Rockies’ superstar via trade.

Bet Online has released the betting odds as to which team Nolan Arenado will be employed by on Opening Day and the Atlanta Braves are on the shortlist.

Arenado is a superstar with the Colorado Rockies. He is one of the best all-round players in the game. His defense will mesmerize just as well as one of his long homers fading into the Rocky Mountains.

Above all else, Nolan Arenado is a winner. He has a winning mentality. The guy can’t stand losing. When he met with Rockies’ GM, Jeff Bridrich subsequent to the regular season, he told Bridrich of his desire for the team to be aggressive. The general manager revealed his actual plans for the black and purple were to…notsomuch be aggressive, but more like NOT AGGRESSIVE…Passive-aggressive sans the “aggressive.”

The conversation reportedly got confrontational and it appears the two are not planning any play-dates anytime soon.

Bridrich told reporters that nothing had come of the trade rumors surrounding Arenado this off-season.

Arenado texted the following to Thomas Harding of MLB.com, in response to news that his trade talks weren’t going anywhere.

"“There’s a lot of disrespect from people there that I don’t want to be a part of,” Arenado said in a text. “You can quote that.”“You ask what I thought of Jeff’s quotes and I say I don’t care what people say around there,” Arenado said. “There is a lot of disrespect.”"

He isn’t saying he feels disrespected, nor does he specify who is being disrespected. I think we can gather who Arenado believes is DOING the disrespecting.

Things aren’t good in Colorado.  Arenado is entering the second year of a $260 million deal.

He has an opt-out after 2021 with a full no-trade clause. The Rockies sound like they may have the incentive to find him a new home and oddsmakers believe the Atlanta Braves are on the shortlist.

The Braves are listed as the second-favorite to land the superstar in a mega-deal, right behind the Yankees with four to one odds.

Here are three lines of logic in favor of placing the bet.

  1. The Braves could seemingly afford the move once salaries are exchanged via trades, and hopefully the Rockies pick up a part of the tab.
  2. The Braves have a deep farm system and can afford to part with a few prospects to seal the deal.
  3. The Braves are hopeful that Johan Camargo or Austin Riley will step up this season, but a team with World Series aspirations would prefer an established superstar rather than hoping for the best.
