Ozzie Albies will be the most important player for the Atlanta Braves in the 2020 season.

Everyone in Atlanta Braves country knows how important Ozzie Albies is, and more importantly how good he is.

Perhaps the 2020 season will be the year he makes his way and becomes the household name across the country like his popular teammates Freddie Freeman and Ronald Acuna.

Entering his third season as an everyday player, Ozzie presumably will hit in the two-hole for the Atlanta Braves once again.

Ozzie, who was a 2018 All-Star, also would go on to earn a Silver Slugger award in 2019.

I still believe that Albies was hugely robbed of a Gold Glove award last season as he only made 4 errors for the season and had a fielding percentage of .994, but as we know, that award usually goes to the biggest name…period.

However, Albies was defeated by Kolten Wong last season.

Ozzie did lead the entire National League in 2019 with 189 hits, and also led the league with 640 at-bats. Obviously, that shows you that he went out every day and performed and was durable and healthy for the most part.

Of course, the most important thing the Atlanta Braves and Ozzie Albies got accomplished in 2019 was the contract extension the two sides agreed upon.

Just being honest, Ozzie Albies signed the biggest team-friendly deal in recent memory and maybe ever.

He is signed through the 2027 season, if you include the options the Atlanta Braves hold, and he will not make over $7M AAV in any of the years that the contract runs.

Look, as an Atlanta Braves fan, I am extremely glad he took the deal as it should allow the club future payroll to sign or trade for other players, but I also do see why so many teams publicly came out with some disgust before the ink on the contract dried.
