The Atlanta Braves have a handful of players that are chasing down milestones in 2020. We take a look at some guys on the brink of some big numbers.

There are several accomplished hitters in the Atlanta Braves lineup that hope to reach some big milestones this season. Baseball has always been a game of numbers.

Magic numbers are supposed to put you on a fast track to the Hall of Fame, like 3,000 hits, 500 homers, 300 wins, and so on.

Nearly 20,000 men have played in the Major Leagues since 1876 and only 235 players have been enshrined. Being called a borderline Hall of Famer, like the great Andruw Jones, is still quite a compliment.

With that being said, we take a look at some milestones that some of our boys are on the brink of this season.

We start with a milestone for Ronald Acuna Jr. that, if reached in 2020, would place him in rare air.

Ronald Acuna Jr. – 100 Home Runs

Ronald Acuna Jr. currently sits on 67 home runs after his first 267 games. Should Acuna reach this milestone this season, it would put him among some of the fasted to reach 100 homers in league history.

With his current pace, he hits a homer in every 3.99 games. Assuming he doesn’t improve that number, he would have the 33 homers he needs to reach 100 at the 132 game mark.

That would give him 100 homers in 399 games. To put that in perspective, it took Mark McGwire 393 games, Joe DiMaggio 395, and Eddie Mathews 397 games to reach the milestone.

Of course, if Acuna plans on hitting 50 homers and stealing 50 bases this season, he would land even further up the list.
