We’re at the midpoint of spring training for the Atlanta Braves and we’ve already seen two rounds of roster cuts, so now is a good time to take another stab at predicting the Opening Day roster.

It’s the “dog days” of spring training for the Atlanta Braves where most players and fans are just ready for the regular season to begin.

The newness of seeing the guys on the field for the first time in 2020 has worn off, and now we want to see games that actually count.

And we’re getting a lot closer as Opening Day is just two weeks away, but for the Braves there is still a lot to be decided between now and then.

The third base battle is still a highly contested competition between Johan Camargo and Austin Riley — one that will almost certainly come down to the wire.

All of the starting pitchers battling for the final two spots in the rotation are throwing the ball well, which is great. But unless we’re going to start the season with a six-man rotation — which I will write more about in the next couple of days — someone is going to have to either break away from the others or fall back.

And then the final bullpen and bench spots always come down to the last couple of weeks.

I don’t think we’ve done a roster prediction article since I did one right after the end of the 2019 season.

Obviously, a lot has changed since then, so it’s time to give my updated take on who I think should and will make the Opening Day roster.

And there’s a big distinction there between what I think should happen and what will happen. I’ll try to make that clear throughout the article.

Things will become a lot clearer over the next couple of weeks, but this is what I’m predicting at the moment.
