A report Tuesday morning notes that we could potentially see the Atlanta Braves on the field again as soon as next month.

We are all looking for some good news as we await the return of Atlanta Braves baseball, and on Tuesday we finally got some of that good news.

According to a report from Jeff Passan of ESPN, MLB and the MLBPA are discussing the possibility of resuming games as soon as May.

The way this would happen is teams would only play games in Arizona and they would essentially create a bubble for the players and they would be locked in that bubble for the remainder of the season.

And, of course, no fans would be allowed.

MLB has gotten approval for this plan from local health officials and the MLBPA is on board.

But as Passan notes in his article, there are still several factors that could keep this plan from happening.

In an interview Passan did on “Get Up,” he points out that Mike Trout is expected to have his first child in August. Will he be allowed to leave the quarantine to witness the birth of his child? WIll he be allowed to come back?

Some players might not want to be separated from their families for that long (some may be running to get away at this point … just kidding).

But players and the union also realize that this is the best way for us to get a season this year, and it’s the only way players are going to get paid.

Playing games in May still seems a bit optimistic and June 1 is a more likely start date with players likely needing a few weeks in May to get acclimated and back into game shape.

I’m not sure what this means for the postseason. Perhaps things have settled down by then and we can play games outside of Arizona. That’s still to be determined in the future.

But I’m considering this good news that we could possibly see the Braves on the field next month when it was starting to look like it might never happen again this year.
