The ongoing battle between the players and MLB took a turn on Wednesday that could have us watching more Atlanta Braves baseball in 2020.

If you’ve been angry at the players for not agreeing to the league’s latest proposal, you may suddenly be cheering for the player’s side as they want even more Atlanta Braves baseball in 2020.

The players were clearly upset about the economic proposal that was sent over by the league and its owners on Tuesday.

And while it still seems like it will be a while before the two sides come to an agreement, there was some interesting news coming from the player’s potential counter.

This alleged proposal has not yet been officially sent from the players to the league, but it sounds like it will be soon.

And as I noted in yesterday’s news update, this will be a long process going back-and-forth. However, I did not see the players advocating for more games.

With their concerns over the league’s health proposal, you’d think they would want fewer games and not more. But it also makes a lot of sense considering they’ll be getting some sort of prorated salaries.

Meaning the more games they play the more money they’ll make … obviously.

But pushing all of that aside for the moment, as a fan, I hope this proposal gets a good response from the league because I’d love to have as many games as possible.

The proposal from the league was for them to play 82 games in 2020 and it sounds like the players want to play 100-plus games.

The kicker here is that the longer these negotiations go on, the less likely the players will get their wish unless they want to be playing postseason games in November.

And it also means they’d likely have to play some double-headers, which again, I’d think the players would be against.

So while I still believe something will get done and we’ll have baseball soon, if players really want more games they’ll have to quicken up the pace on these negotiations.

Next. More Mock Drafts. dark

Here’s to hoping the two sides finally just sit down on a virtual conference and don’t leave until something is agreed upon. This has already taken entirely too long and I just want to know when I can watch the Braves play again.
