Dan Uggla’s Atlanta Salary Total

The main reason Braves’ fans grimace when they hear Dan Uggla’s name mentioned is not due solely to his on-field results. No, it is a combination of his results mixed with the knowledge of how much Uggla was paid to perform so poorly.

Dan Uggla’s yearly salary during his time with the Braves was as follows:

  • 2011: $9,146,942
  • 2012: $13,000,000
  • 2013: $13,000,000*
  • 2014: $13,000,000 (Uggla released on July 18, 2014)

*Highest salary on Braves’ roster

Butt, remember Uggla’s contract with the Braves was for five years and $62 million; and MLB contracts are fully guaranteed. So even though Uggla was released the Braves still paid him his remaining salary for 2014, about $6,500,000, AND his 2015 salary – a small sum of $12,692,500.

After his release from the Braves, Uggla signed a minor league contract with the San Francisco Giants . Uggla was called up to the majors and played four games with the Giants in 2014.

After struggling in his four games with the Giants, Uggla was designated for assignment in August. Uggla rejected his assignment and became a free agent.

The icing on the cake of Dan Uggla’s 2014 season was the fact that he “earned” a World Series ring after the Giants went on to beat the Kansas City Royals to clinch their third championship in five years. What a year!

Dan Uggla finished his career with total earnings amounting to $75,632,942.  83% of his career earnings were paid out by the Atlanta Braves organization.
