For the first time all summer it’s starting to look like we may not get a baseball season and we might not get to see the Atlanta Braves in 2020.

Throughout this despicable drama between the owners and players, I also remained confident that we would get Atlanta Braves baseball in 2020.

I continued to hold that feeling until this past Monday (June 15) when MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said he is not sure a season will happen.

For the first time, I really don’t know if we’ll have baseball in 2020, and part of me really doesn’t care anymore.

The next section of this article is just going to be a rant, so bear with me.

I love baseball as much as anyone and I will always watch the game because I love the GAME. Whether it’s my nephew’s 9-year-old team, high school, college, I don’t care. I’ll watch baseball at any level because  I enjoy the game.

But it’s going to really hard for me to support these players and owners that have been so greedy and shellfish during one of the most difficult times I’ve ever seen in our country.

With a country in turmoil in need of something to rally around and bring us all together, baseball had the chance to be that for all us.

Instead, we have owners and players who make millions of dollars fighting over how they can make millions of more dollars.

And don’t get it twisted, the MLPBA isn’t fighting for the little guy, the MLBPA is made for the rich and fights for the rich.

Also, don’t let them fool you that this is about health concerns. Some players will try to hide behind that to make you feel bad for them, but it’s really just about money (for most of them).

There are certainly health risks, but it’s minimal compared to a lot of us have to deal with at our jobs. It’s not like baseball is a contact sport — thanks to the Buster Posey rule.

So how am I supposed to look past this when baseball does resume and forgive the players and owners who let a country down when it needed them the most?

Again, I’m a weak person when it comes to baseball, and as soon as Freddie Freeman and the Braves take the field I’ll be tuned in.

But my love for the game has weakened in all of this and I don’t blame fans that will tune out and won’t support these greedy owners and players that are ruining the best sport in the world.

All wounds can be healed, but it’s going to take some time and changing from how the players and owners handle their business. There is plenty of blame to go around if we don’t get Braves baseball in 2020.
