Braves: Chances Fans Attend Games at Truist Park in 2020
We take a look at the possibility of fans being able to watch Atlanta Braves games in Truist Park during the 2020 Major League Baseball season.
Perhaps I’m getting ahead of myself here thinking we may actually get to watch the Atlanta Braves play in person this year.
I’m still a little pessimistic about the chances of baseball actually happening this year.
But if I allow myself to think positively for a moment I quickly start wondering if I’ll actually be able to see the Braves in person in 2020.
Watching games on TV is great and if we get to that point I’ll be more than happy considering just a few weeks ago it looked like we wouldn’t get anything this year.
However, there have been some rumblings of teams considering letting fans into stadiums.
And honestly, I don’t see why fans wouldn’t be allowed to go to games in 2020. There is plenty of room to social distance in these huge stadiums if you just sell half the tickets.
I asked our followers on Twitter if they’d go to a game this year if allowed and over 70 percent said yes.
While I didn’t state it in the tweet, I think most people assume this would mean selling a limited number of tickets and requiring people to keep their distance.
When my church started letting people attend again they had every other pew blocked off. They could do something similar in stadiums.
And you could have families purchase an entire row of seats so they can sit together — doesn’t that sound amazing!
Alex Anthopoulos recently added to my optimism about fans coming to Truist Park this season by saying they’re at least discussing the possibility.
I’ve been going to my nephew’s little league games for weeks now and there are probably more people in less space at those games, so I don’t see why it can’t be done at Major League stadiums where there is far more room to spread out.
I get that some people won’t think it worth the risk and that’s fine. But I think a majority of people would relish at the opportunity to see live baseball in 2020.
While I might not take my wife and kid and risk it with them, I’d certainly be willing to go myself.
The Korean Baseball League just recently announced that they’re going to allow fans back in the stands. While they’ve been ahead of us for a while in containing the virus, it seems like things have gone pretty smoothly with them.
Maybe I’m stuck in the clouds and not looking at the bigger picture here, but I really feel like it makes a ton of sense for them to allow fans back in a limited capacity this year.
But then this report from the AJC comes out and my pessimistic attitude comes back.
Let me know in the comments below if you would attend a game in 2020 or not. And let me know what type of restrictions fans should have if they do attend.
