A nightmare became a reality on Monday night as the Atlanta Braves ace exited the game early with what appears to be a serious injury.

The game Monday night was not off to a good start for the Atlanta Braves as Mike Soroka was not very sharp and gave up three runs before leaving early with an injury in the third inning.

With the bases loaded a ball was hit to first base and Mike broke to run to first base to cover the bag for a potential double-play and immediately went down.

We hate to speculate at this point without confirmation, but it certainly looked like an Achilles injury as you could see some snap between the ankle and calf.

If that’s the case then Soroka is most certainly done for the year. Either way, it looked really bad and I would not count on the Braves’ ace coming back this season.

Certainly, we’ll update you as soon as we get the official word.

Words can’t express the pain we feel as fans for Soroka at this point. Not just because he’s our number one pitcher that we desperately need atop the rotation, but you just really hate it for a guy who was making a case as one of the best pitchers in baseball.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mike and his family and we just hope it’s not as serious as it looked and he’ll be back for the Braves soon.

But for now, we just hope and pray for the best for him and the Braves as they try to move on after seeing their ace and a great guy go down like this.
