Atlanta Braves – Bryse Wilson

Similar to Kyle Wright, Wilson is known for attacking the strike zone. With the team currently second in Major League Baseball in runs scored, they don’t need him to be an ace right now. The 22-year-old has shown a combination of strikeout ability while keeping his walks per nine below three in the minor leagues. One thing he offers that other prospects (like Ian Anderson) do not is that he has extensive experience pitching in Triple-A.

In 26 career Triple-A games, Wilson has posted a 3.71 ERA with 146 strikeouts in 143.0 innings pitched. While the results weren’t good, he does have 27 innings of major league experience. He could be worth a look here.

Atlanta Braves – Mike Foltynewicz

There was obviously something wrong with Folty in his first start. It’s been well documented that his fastball was averaging 89.3 mph. He cleared waivers and is currently at the Braves’ alternate training site. I don’t think they pull him back up unless they see improvement in camp.

It is possible that he gets things lined out. His experience could be extremely valuable if he can pitch well enough.

Remember, this is a guy that has basically been spectacular in three of the last four half-seasons. While we’d all welcome a return of the All-Star form he had in 2018, or the dominant pitcher he was in the second half of last season, at this point we’d just be happy with a guy that can eat five innings a start.
