Podcast Episode 24: Atlanta Braves, trade deadline, injuries, the walkoff
The big Atlanta Braves news was about Mike Soroka, but winning continues in spectacular ways.
Funny things can happen when you’re recording a podcast during an Atlanta Braves game. One minute you can be debating the offensive prowess of young Austin Riley, and during the next minute, the oldest guy in the lineup picks up a bat and decides to end the game.
That wasn’t exactly how it came together, of course, but Nick Markakis was determined to make amends for his prior plate appearance and simply proved that he’s the professional hitter that we all already believed him to be.
In the post-game presser, Markakis said in answer to a question that he’d only picked up a bat since his opt-out about a week before this game. Remarkable.
The podcast this week talks about the Mike Soroka Achilles injury and what the Atlanta Braves might or might not be able to do about it. That’s clearly the big question right now, for the starting rotation is being held together with duct tape and baling wire.
We discuss this and a lot more in this week’s podcast, which you can listen to with the link right here…
The direct download link is available here if you prefer to listen in that manner. This is also available via iTunes, Spreaker, and a variety of other podcast outlets.
We didn’t get a post made for last week’s delayed podcast, but if you are determined to make sure you hear every single episode (thanks for doing that, Mom), then here is the link for that.
Seriously, though: thanks for the support — we are doing this in the hopes that this is a useful medium: both in terms of being able to expound on ideas that can be tricky to put into print, and by allowing us to discuss the news of the day in a more expansive manner.
We’ll see you again in this spot next week!
