So Monday night’s game where the Atlanta Braves played the Baltimore Orioles happened.

It was not pretty for the Atlanta Braves and admittedly, most of us probably turned it off in the mid point of the game.

Let’s go ahead and get the lone positive out of the way.

Freddie Freeman is on fire and should be right in the middle of the MVP discussion in the National league. Even when the whole team was in a funk, Freddie still come out and put up two hits including a home run in the middle innings before being took out of the game.

Freddie’s average now sits at a very stout .345.

However, that is all the positives there is to take away from this game.

The final score was 14-1 and Baltimore poured it on early and often.

The big blow was without a doubt the nine run third inning that the Atlanta Braves allowed. Touki Touissaint had another bad outing and one has to wonder how much more time the Atlanta Braves will give to Touki before a decision has to be made.

Granted an error was made by Austin Riley to keep the bad inning going but it was still Touki who served up all the hits and the long balls that Baltimore was able to hit.

Luke Jackson did not fare much better but he was brought into a mess and he will get a free pass from me on this one.

I guess the short bus ride from Washington D.C to Baltimore wore the Atlanta Braves out because they made Jorge Lopez look like an ace for Baltimore out on the mound.

One last thought here though. I have no answer as to why the Atlanta Braves have kept rolling out pitchers like Touki, Huascar Ynoa (who is starting Tuesday) and Josh Tomlin out there to start. You can not tell me that Sean Newcomb and Mike Foltynewicz would have been much worse if worse at all. Heck, bring up some other kids and let them get their feet wet.

Luckily, it still looks as if the Atlanta Braves will make the postseason and better yet, the pitching staff should finally be mostly intact by this weekend.

So that’s all for Monday’s recap. The same two teams play at the same time on Tuesday night.
