Travis d’Arnaud had an NLDS performance for the ages. Carrying the Atlanta Braves to the NLCS for the first time since 2001.

There is no official MVP award for the Divisional Series. However, if there was one, it would most certainly go to the catch of the Atlanta BravesTravis d’Arnaud.

In a three-game series sweep of the Miami Marlins, Travis d’Arnaud went 6-10 with two home runs, three runs, and seven RBIs. When you add in his three walks for the series, he finished with a slash line of .600/.692/1.400/2.092.

In fact, it was a historic series for Travis d’Arnaud as he recorded the most RBIs by a catcher in a single series in Divisional Series history.

He only needed three games to do it. Imagine his numbers if the series goes the full five games?

Travis was magnificent throughout the entire series. Game one was probably his best performance though.

Travis d’Arnaud came to the plate five times, recorded three hits, including a home run and a double, walked twice, and drove in four runs in the Atlanta Braves 9-5 win. This made d’Arnaud the first catcher in baseball history to reach base five times and record four RBIs in a postseason game.

Now, d’Arnaud was not just great at the plate, he also called some really good games behind the plate. The Atlanta Braves allowed only five runs in twenty-seven innings of play (1.67 ERA).

This includes Ian Anderson’s stellar game two where he threw five and two-thirds innings, striking out eight, while only allowing three hits, one walk, and no runs.

He was also behind the plate for Kyle Wright’s pivotal game three where he threw six scoreless innings of three hit, two walk baseball while also striking out seven Marlins.

d’Arnaud played an all-around complete game, for the entire NLDS.

This is huge for a guy that was DFA’d by the Mets in April of 2019.

Travis struggled with injuries that kept him off the field and hurt his production at the end of his run with the Mets. This led to his release from the New York Metropolitans.

d’Arnaud of course would bounce back with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2019 before signing with the Atlanta Braves this past off-season.

I would say the move worked out well for Atlanta, as d’Arnaud has been huge for the Braves in 2020 and carried that into a historic NLDS performance.

Travis d’Arnaud wins the unofficial MVP award for the phenomenal NLDS series against the Miami Marlins. Braves fans hope the best is yet to come for d’Arnaud and the rest of the Atlanta Braves, as they look to make a deep run this postseason.
