Even though the Atlanta Braves are off to a great start in the NLCS against the Los Angeles Dodgers, fans know not to get their hopes up.

I think growing up as an Atlanta Braves fan, or an Atlanta sports fan in general, you know not to count your eggs before they hatch.

They almost Atlanta’d in game two by nearly squandering a five-run lead in the ninth inning.

But as Mark Melancon let David O’Brien know after the game, they didn’t blow the lead.

However, I’m sure all Atlanta sports fans were thinking, “Here we go again.”

Maybe that means this team is different, but I’m still not getting too excited until they get that fourth win.

And here is why.

Game 3 is a huge momentum game for the Dodgers. If they win Game 3 then they’re right back in the series and they have their best pitching going in Game 4 in Clayton Kershaw, and they will potentially have Walker Buehler coming back on three days rest for Game 5.

So if you’re the Dodgers and you take Game 3 then you have to feel really good about winning those next two games as well.

Plus, let’s not kid ourselves, this Dodgers team is good and our pitching isn’t going to hold down that offense every game.

And I now a lot of media members are talking about the Dodgers bats waking up at the end of Game 2, but the Brian Snitker was using his C-squad of relievers.

Still, it shows you that if you just give that LA team an inch they can break through the door.

The Braves can’t let up and I think Game 3 could be very imperative to them winning this series.

While no team has come back from a 2-0 deficit in the NLCS before, it would certainly be an Atlanta thing to let it happen.

I believe this team is different and I believe this is a confident bunch that knows they are the more complete team.

They’ve proven that through the first two games of this series, let’s hope it continues. But I’ll be holding in my celebrations until they get the job done.
