Braves Have 6 Players Up for 2020 All-MLB Team
The Atlanta Braves are well represented on the 2020 ballot for the All-MLB team after having a great season with one of the best offenses.
Last year was the inagural version of the All-MLB team, which I thought was a great idea from Major League Baseball. The Atlanta Braves had three players make the second-team last season with Freddie Freeman, Ronald Acuna Jr., and Mike Soroka.
Ozzie Albies and Josh Donaldson were also on the ballot last year for the Braves.
This year they have six players on the 2020 All-MLB team ballot.
That list once again includes Freeman and Acuna. But they’re joined this season by Travis d’Arnaud, Dansby Swanson, Marcell Ozuna, and Max Fried.
This year I think the Braves will get someone on the first-team — and it will almost certainly be Freddie Freeman.
I don’t think Acuna and Swanson have a legitimate case for either the first or second-team this year. Acuna just didn’t play enough, and Swanson was really good, but there are some really good shortstops out there.
TDA has a really good argument at catcher with a .919 OPS and 9 home runs during the regular season — along with a strong performance in the postseason.
Ozuna should at least be a second-team player as he’ll likely finish in the top five of the NL MVP voting. The only thing that might hold him back is that he mostly was the team’s DH this year and they have him categorized as an outfielder.
However, he led all DHs with a 1.067 OPS in 2020.
And then Max Fried has to be on the second-team after going 7-0 in 2020 with a 2.25 ERA, while carrying the Braves rotation for most of the season.
Had he stayed healthy all year he would have most certainly been in the top three of the NL Cy Young vote, and should still get a significant amount of votes there.
Make sure you go out and vote for your deserving Braves players and let’s see how many get on the All-MLB team in 2020!
