It’s officially awards season for Major League Baseball and the Atlanta Braves are already on the board with Gold Glove awards being announced.

The Atlanta Braves were one of the best teams in baseball during the 2020 season, so it’s only natural that they’d have players up for several individual awards.

Tuesday night really kicked off the awards season for MLB. This time usually helps fill the gap between the end of the postseason and when the offseason really kicks into gear.

The Braves had three players up for the Gold Glove awards but only came away with one as Max Fried earned his first-ever Gold Glove as the best defensive pitcher in the National League this past season.

It really wasn’t much of a surprise and it’s the only one I thought the Braves would get.

Dansby Swanson had a real case for winning at shortstop, but as I said in my preview article of the Gold Glove award, Javy Baez is going to get on name recognition alone.

And there really weren’t a lot of great candidates in the NL for center field, so I think Acuna could have very easily taken that home.

I know I watched several San Diego Padres games and to think Trent Grisham was the winner is just gross.

That just goes to show how flawed these Gold Glove awards can be, but I digress.

I do think Fried was very deserving as he showed a ton of athleticism on the mound and has one of the best left-handed pick-off moves in baseball.

If he could have stayed healthy all year I think he would have been an NL Cy Young finalist as well, but at least he got something out of his great 2020 season.

Hopefully this was the first of many end-of-season awards for the Braves.

Starting November 9 through November 12 they’ll announce the winners of the Rookie of the Year, Manager of the Year, Cy Young, and MVP awards.

Freddie Freeman is up for the NL MVP award and should be the winner if the voters aren’t complete idiots.

Next. 6 Players up for All-MLB Team. dark

And then the 2020 All-MLB team will be announced on November 13. The Braves have six players on the ballot for that, and at least three should make the first and second teams.
