After a day full of roster moves from yesterday’s game, the Atlanta Braves suffered their ninth loss of the season as they fell 13-4 to the Chicago Cubs on Saturday afternoon.

It was a disappointing day for the Atlanta Braves as the Cubs took the lead in the bottom of the first inning on a solo HR from catcher Willson Contreras and never looked back.

Atlanta Braves starter Huascar Ynoa struggled on the mound in his third start of the season as he gave up 6 runs in 4 innings while allowing 7 hits, 3 of which were home runs. In fact, the home run ball was a common theme for Braves pitchers on Saturday afternoon at Wrigley.

The Cubs hit 6 HRs off Braves pitchers on Saturday as two came from Contreras, Kris Bryant had two, and one a piece from Javier Baez and David Bote.

This just wasn’t the Atlanta Braves day.

These types of games happen in baseball. Sure they don’t happen often, but they do still happen.

The Braves just had an “off-day” without officially having an actual off-day. The Braves struggled from the plate against Cubs starter Trevor Williams only collecting four hits and one run against the right-hander.

The Braves pitching staff as a whole struggled against the Cubs lineup as they allowed 14 hits, but there were a few bright spots from this loss that seemed to be over before it started.

The return of Sean Kazmar Jr to the major leagues was arguably the best thing of the day. Atlanta also got good performances from Ronald Acuna Jr who went 2-4 to extend his hitting-streak to nine games, Ehire Adrianza went 2-4, and Marcell Ozuna drove in two runs.

The Atlanta Braves will return to the field tomorrow night in the series finale against the Cubs with first pitch set for 7:08 pm ET. The probable starter for the Cubs is RHP Kyle Hendricks while the starter for the Braves is RHP Bryse Wilson making his 2021 season debut.
