The Atlanta Braves have been struggling mightily.  How bad is it?  You might not want to know.

The Atlanta Braves have managed to pull out a couple of victories late this week, but now even injury is being added to insult.

On the injured list now are these names as of Saturday morning:

But that’s not why the team isn’t hitting and it’s not why the pitchers continue to issue free passes.  It’s like the group that left Florida forgot what their strengths were.

The good news — perhaps — is that the offense continues to hit balls hard.  Unfortunately, they are also being hit right at people holding gloves.

The pitchers… while they are striking out batters at a record pace, that’s the only thing keeping matters from being completely worse since walks are also being handed out at a high rate.

The Braves’ depth certainly will be tested over the next several days and weeks while injured players recover.  Hopefully, it also means that they’ll have a chance to remember the things done in March to make the club in the first place.

But for the offense, it’s the middle- and bottom-of-the-order bats that need to awaken.

The rest of the April schedule would appear to be more favorable toward assisting the team in that regard… let’s just see if they can get everybody on the same page toward doing so.

In the meantime:  expect a lot of new faces in that dugout for a while.
