It was a good day for Ronald Acuna Jr. and the Atlanta Braves on Monday as he got a good report of health and won a big award.

Ronald Acuna Jr., to no one’s surprise, was named the NL Player of the Week for his performance with the Atlanta Braves over the past week.

He honestly would have won it back-to-back weeks had Joe Musgrove not thrown a no-hitter the week before.

Ronnie has been unbelievable to start the season.

This past week alone he slashed .385/.515/.846 with 3 home runs, 13 runs scored, 8 RBI, and 7 walks. And that was a little bit of a down week for him as he’s slashing .419/.486/.887 on the year with 7 home runs, 21 runs scored, 16 RI, and 3 stolen bases.

He’s been carrying this team offensively and there is no telling how many more losses the Braves would have without the red hot start from Ronald Acuna Jr.

Ronald Acuna Jr. Injury News

That’s why it was so devastating to see Acuna leave the game on Sunday.

First, you hate it for the player who has worked so hard to come out and have a big year to prove why he’s the new best player in baseball.

And second, you hate it for the Braves who need Acuna now more than ever with the way the rest of the lineup is hitting — or rather, not hitting.

But the MRI results were positive on Monday and it sounds like Acuna has avoided major injury.

It would not be surprising if manager Brian Snitker decided to hold Acuna out of these two games in New York with an off day on Thursday. That would give him four days of rest to make sure he’s healed up completely going into the weekend.

While I hate the idea of playing any games with Acuna in the lineup, if that’s the best course of action to make sure this doesn’t turn into something major, then sit him out against the Yankees.

I hope more than anything we get to see Acuna stay healthy for the majority of this season because he’ll win the NL MVP if he does. He’s off to a great start.
