The Atlanta Braves started a three-game set in Washington D.C. on Tuesday night, looking to end their four-game losing streak behind their young right-hander, Huascar Ynoa.

Huascar Ynoa gave the Atlanta Braves and their fans exactly what they were needing on Tuesday night.

Ynoa tossed seven strong innings giving up only four hits and one unearned run.  And while that would have been enough to satisfy us all, Ynoa went the extra mile and hit a 6th inning grand slam that broke the game open en route to at 6-1 Braves win.

While Ynoa was undoubtedly the star of the game in every way, shape, and form a lot of credit needs to be given to the bottom of the Braves lineup for this win.

In the decisive 6th inning Dansby Swanson came to the plate with a runner on second and two men out with the Braves nursing a one-run lead. Dansby had singled and doubled in his two plate appearances up to that point so the Nationals decided to intentionally walk Swanson.

William Contreras was up next and lined a 2-2 pitch from Tanner Rainey into left-center for a single, scoring Albies from second and bring Christian Pache to the plate.

Pache worked an 8 pitch at-bat into a base on balls that would load the bases and bring up Ynoa.  And we all know how that turned out.

With Tuesday’s win, the Atlanta Braves improved to 3-1 against the Washington Nationals this season.

This was a nice way to start off this divisional series for the Braves.

Fresh off the announcement that he had won National League player of the month for April, Ronald Acuna Jr. hit his MLB leading 10th home run.

AJ Minter looked great closing the game out with a one, two, three ninth inning that included two strikeouts.

The Braves will look to keep the momentum going by winning the series Wednesday night as they welcome Max Fried back to the mound.  Hopefully, whatever was ailing him earlier in the season is in the rearview now and we get the Max Fried that we became so accustomed to in the shortened 2020 season.
