Most of Game 1 it seemed like the Atlanta Braves were going to let it slip away, but Austin Riley delivered early and late to give them a 1-0 edge in the series.

Now we move to Game 2 where Atlanta will hope to have a little better luck offensively against a familiar foe in Max Scherzer.

Last year in the NLCS Game 2, he pitched 4 shutout innings allowing 1 hit and 5 walks in 85 pitches. Then in Game 7 he allowed 2 earned runs on 5 hits and 2 walks over 3 innings on 73 pitches.

He’ll need to be more efficient this time around as the Braves need him to go at least 5 innings and keep them in striking distance.

This one certainly doesn’t look well on paper with the pitching matchup. The Dodgers have made Ian work in the past, limiting him to short outings.

I’ll say this to encourage Braves fans, Atlanta is very familiar with Scherzer, he’s not getting any younger and just pitched an emotional inning on Thursday.

Still, he’s one of the greatest pitchers of the last decade. This one will be a challenge for the Braves.
