The Atlanta Braves responded to their first loss of the NLCS with an offensive outburst in Game 4 as they downed the Dodgers 9-2.

It’s time for the Atlanta Braves to accomplish their goal of reaching the World Series and they find themselves in a prime position to do that with a 3-1 series lead over LA.

There were two MVPs for me last night, Eddie Rosario and Drew Smyly (yes, you read that right).

Eddie Rosario is showing Braves fans exactly what he brings to the plate. Quite literally.

Rosario has fourteen hits in the postseason and is batting .467/.515/.733 with a 1.248 OPS including two home runs and eight RBI.

The entire Braves bullpen was incredible yesterday as they held LA to just two runs on four hits.

I want to highlight Drew Smyly who hadn’t pitched since October 2nd of this year.

Smyly ended up covering ten outs for the Braves last night. He finished his outing after 3.1 innings allowing just two hits and two earned runs (those two runs scoring after he was relieved from the game).

His performance allowed Atlanta to grab a commanding series lead and one step closer to the World Series.

This Braves team looks like it is built for a World Series win but they have one more step to complete before that can happen.

Atlanta finds themselves in a similar position as last season being up 3-1 on LA so they know all too well that they cannot take their foot off the gas.

History is on the side of the Braves, however, as teams with a 3-1 lead in a best-of-seven have gone on to win the series 84% of the time.

Braves vs. Dodgers Odds Today

WynnBET has the Dodgers as the favorite at -1.5/+140 and the Braves as underdogs at +1.5/-160.

The money line for this one is Dodgers -142 and Braves +132, while the over/under total is set at 8.0 (Over -110/Under -110).

Braves Starting Pitcher Today: Max Fried

Max Fried really turned his season from mediocre to great after he returned from the IL earlier this season. He was 14-7 with a 3.04 ERA through 28 games.

However, Fried really turned it on in the second half as he posted a 1.74 ERA and was arguably the best pitcher in the league through that timeframe.

How has that translated into the postseason?

Currently, Max is 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA through 12 innings pitched. He’s allowed just two earned runs with no walks, 14 strikeouts, and a 0.92 WHIP.

Fried threw six scoreless against the Brewers in Game 2 of the NLDS and allowed just two runs to the Dodgers in Game 1 of this NLCS.

I expect nothing less than the same from Max Fried in Game 5. He is pitching on an elite level right now and the key to finishing off the Dodgers tonight to send the Braves to their first World Series since 1999.

Braves Potential Starting Lineup

I expect the lineup to go back to how it was at the start of the series. However, if the Dodgers choose to start a left-hander, you could see Dansby Swanson moved to the lead-off spot.

  1. Eddie Rosario, LF
  2. Freddie Freeman, 1B
  3. Ozzie Albies, 2B
  4. Austin Riley, 3B
  5. Joc Pederson, RF
  6. Adam Duvall, CF
  7. Travis d’Arnaud, C
  8. Dansby Swanson, SS
  9. Max Fried, P

Braves vs. Dodgers Prediction

This is a tough game to predict as the Dodgers, who have a great offense, could easily jump on the Braves and send us back to Atlanta with a 3-2 series lead.

Will that happen? It’s certainly possible but I have a very good feeling about this game.

Max Fried has been so good for the Braves and I don’t expect that to change anytime soon.

Even if he were to allow a few runs, the way the offense is performing gives me so much hope for this team closing things out tonight.

The keys to tonight’s game will be Max Fried being able to give the team 6-7 solid innings and the offense continuing to keep its foot on the gas.

I’m predicting a Braves win tonight in Game 5 with a final score of 7-4.
