Atlanta Braves: 4 Prospects Who Should be Untouchable in Trade Talks

The Atlanta Braves are currently in a situation with their farm system where there are multiple big-league ready prospects that may not necessarily have a spot available on the roster. Because of this, it makes sense for the Braves to make a significant trade at some point within the next year.

When looking at which Braves prospects should be untouchable in trade talks, you could make an argument that four players are untouchable with the first being catcher Shea Langeliers.

The Braves 2019 first-round pick (No. 9 overall), Langeliers is currently rated as Atlanta’s No. 2 prospect, as well as the No. 69 overall prospect in the game.

An outstanding two-way catcher, Langeliers is widely regarded as the Braves catcher of the future, and is coming off a phenomenal 2021 season in which the 23-year-old earned Braves Minor League Player of the Year honors slashing .256/.339/.494 with 22 home runs, as well as a 42% caught stealing percentage defensively with Double-A Mississippi.

Outside of Langeliers, the one player you could certainly make an excellent case is also untouchable is outfielder Michael Harris, the Braves No. 4 prospect — and number 89 overall.

Also selected in the 2019 Draft (3rd round), the 20-year-old dominated High-A pitching with Rome this past season slashing .294/.362/.436 with seven home runs, 64 RBI’s, and 27 stolen bases.

One of the fastest-rising Top 100 prospects in the game, Harris burst onto the scene a year ago, and continued that in 2021 by showcasing his elite hitting and fielding abilities.

In addition to those two, you could also make an argument that pitchers Kyle Muller (No. 5) and Spencer Strider (No. 10) are also untouchable, both of whom debuted in the major leagues this past season, and will likely see a more permanent role in Atlanta in 2022. Both Muller and Strider showcase repertoires headlined by an elite fastball, as well as a solid breaking ball and changeup that can also get batters out.

While you could also make an argument that a few other Atlanta Braves’ prospects should be untouchable, these four should absolutely not be available in trade talks. However, if for some reason any of these four are made available this offseason, it should only be for a superstar-caliber player with multiple years of control in return.
