The Atlanta Braves clinch a series win against the Philadelphia Phillies after getting a dominating performance from Kyle Wright on the mound.

If anyone was wondering whether or not the Atlanta Braves were just taking advantage of a weak schedule in the month of June — we can put that debate to rest.

After beating the Philadelphia Phillies 4-1 on Wednesday they set a modern franchise record with 21 wins in a single month.

Their last six wins have all come against teams with winning records, and they were one strike away from winning three straight series against the Giants, Dodgers, and Phillies.

This Braves team is finally playing like the championship-caliber club they are, and they got a huge performance from Kyle Wright on Wednesday.

Braves: Kyle Wright Cruises in Philly

After giving up double-digit hits in his last two outings, Kyle Wright was certainly looking for a much better outing on Wednesday.

He delivered by allowing just 1 earned run (a solo home run) on 3 hits and 3 walks over 7 innings.

Sure, the Phillies were without Bryce Harper in the middle of the order, but that’s still a very dangerous lineup.

Wright had the sinker and curveball working as he consistently go ahead in the count and generated weak contact with an 87.5 MPH average exit velocity against.

You can chalk up bad BABIP luck to some of those hits in the last two games, but he was also missing over the middle of the plate a lot.

He did a much better job in this game of working in the strike zone, but living more on the edges of the zone.

This is great news for Wright, and hopefully a turning point to get him pitching like a top-of-the-rotation pitcher again.

Braves: Olson’s Daily Double

Matt Olson picked up two more doubles on Wednesday and now has 31 on the year. He has 4 doubles and 4 home runs in his last eight games and it looks like he’s getting ready for a big hot streak.

The rest of the offensive production came from the bottom of the lineup on Wednesday as the 6-0 hitters picked up all four RBI.

William Contreras had 2 hits, Adam Duvall hit a home run, and Michael Harris drove in another insurance run late.

Potential Bullpen Trade Target. dark. Next

Ian Anderson will try to continue the good pitching from Braves starters on this road trip Thursday as he takes on a tough customer in Aaron Nola with Atlanta going for the sweep.
