After another injury at second base, the Atlanta Braves decided to call up their newly ranked top prospect Vaughn Grissom to fill the void.

It’s not supposed to be this easy, but Vaughn Grissom becomes the second 21-year-old the Atlanta Braves have called up this year who has made an immediate impact.

After playing just 22 games above the Single-A level, Vaughn Grissom was called up to the big leagues on Wednesday. All he did in his debut at historic Fenway Park was hit a ball over the Green Monster and became the first Braves player in the modern era to homer and steal a bag in his debut.

The confidence of Michael Harris and Vaughn Grissom to come up from Double-A to the highest level and just play their games is truly incredible.

Something to keep in mind that we often forget, if not for the lost 2020 season, both of these guys probably have a full year of Double-A under the belts and would have been knocking on the big league doors anyway.

And both players were part of the alternate training site during that 2020 season where Braves coaches got a look at them.

Now, it’s just one game for Vaughn Grissom and it’s not like he was facing Jacob deGrom or Sandy Alcantara, but it was still a very impressive debut.

What was most impressive is that he was able to show a little bit of everything.

Like Harris, power was a tool that many thought would come for Grissom, and he was starting to show that this season with 14 home runs between High-A and Double-A.

Speed has always been there for Grissom.

He displayed both of those tools in his first game.

And while there have been questions on him defensively and whether he can stick at short, he does have a strong arm and was part of a pair of double-plays in his debut.

For Grissom and Braves fans, you really couldn’t have asked for a better debut as he helped his team win and showed all of the tools that make you fall in love with his potential.
