Award season continues as Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker was nominated for NL Manager of the Year. Unfortunately, the result was not in favor of Snitker as the 2022 NL Manager of the Year award went to Buck Showalter.

Showalter led the New York Mets to 101 wins in 2022 which was an improvement over their 77 wins in 2021. That is the second-most victories in Mets franchise history. He is the first manager in MLB history to win the award with four different organizations.

Snitker finished in third place behind Showalter and Dave Roberts of the Dodgers. Snit did receive 7 first-place votes and finished with 5 points in the voting. Full results are listed below:

Brian Snitker led the Atlanta Braves to an impressive 101 wins and a fifth straight NL Eastern Division title. He was crucial in the team reaching that milestone as they found themselves 10.5 games out of first place this summer. After a speech during a team meeting in Arizona, Atlanta went on to crush that deficit and ultimately surpass the Mets for the division lead.

There are many who often doubt how great of a manager Snit is and he does make some questionable decisions at times. What manager doesn’t make bad decisions from time to time? However, you cannot deny the ability he has to get the most out of the players that play under him.

The Braves are lucky to have a manager who has continually found himself in this conversation almost every year. Good managers are hard to find and Atlanta is fortunate to be one of the clubs that has one. 2023 will likely be another opportunity for Snit to earn a shot at this award.

The AL Manager of the Year award went to another great manager in Terry Francona. Francona received 17 first-place votes beating out Brandon Hyde (Orioles) and Scott Servais (Mariners). Terry was the clear favorite to win as the Guardians outperformed any expectations that were placed on them at the beginning of the season.
