Braves News: Chipper and Maddux to vote for Hall of Fame, Ian Anderson, more

Well hello fans of the Atlanta Braves professional baseball club. While we did see a bit of movement on the free agent market, still no word on what the Braves are going to be doing this offseason nor has there been much word on what is going on with Dansby Swanson. However, that doesn’t mean that we didn’t have Braves news, at least a little bit.
This week, the Contemporary Era committee will be voting on eight finalists to be enshrined in the baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. Yesterday, the composition of that committee was announced and it includes Atlanta Braves legends Chipper Jones and Greg Maddux among others. The bar is still going to be pretty high to clear, but having a couple of Braves on the committee certainly cannot hurt the chances of Fred McGriff and Dale Murphy who are among the finalists.

Around the site, we had a couple of evergreen-type posts for you all to enjoy. First, we continued our 2022 Tomahawk Take awards series with our biggest disappointment from 2022 and the award sadly went to Ian Anderson. The 2022 season was certainly a big step back for Ian from his solid to great performances the previous two seasons, so hopefully he can get back on track.
Finally, we looked at the lighter side of things from the 2022 season. This Braves team is wildly entertaining and has given us our fair share of laughs in recent years, so here is a look at some of the funniest Braves moments from the 2022 season.
MLB News
We did have a free agent signing, although it involved the World Champion Astros. According to reports, Houston and free agent Jose Abreu came to an agreement on a three year deal. The Astros’ offense was already pretty impressive and it looks like they just got even stronger.
Justin Verlander has been getting a lot of attention on the free agent market and it seems like all of the big market, deep-pocketed teams are lining up to chat with him. Next up on Verlander’s docket is the Dodgers who reportedly met with him on Monday.
As for the other All-World pitcher on the free agent market, Jacob deGrom, Mets fans got some good news as Ken Rosenthal suggested that deGrom returning to the Mets as a strong possibility with New York making him one of their top priorities. Personally, we are hoping that if this comes to pass, that deGrom looks like the more human version we saw towards the end of 2022 going forward.
