Braves News: The best moments from 2022, Dylan Lee’s awesome season, more

A quiet week for the Atlanta Braves continued on Tuesday as the calm before the storm that is the Winter Meetings next week sets in. However, the content train rolls on and we had a couple of interesting notes from yesterday.
One feature that we have been thoroughly enjoying rolling out over the last couple of weeks has been our Tomahawk Take awards series. Yesterday, the results of the voting on the best Braves moment from the 2022 season were revealed. The division race down the stretch featured prominently in the voting.

Elsewhere on the site, we had a fascinating breakdown as to how Dylan Lee, whose stuff doesn’t immediately make you think that he is going to miss a bunch of bats, managed to do just that during the 2022 season. What started as a surface level curiosity turned into a deep dive into what makes Lee’s tick as a pitcher and how he makes his pitches play up despite not having the best pure “stuff”.

Elsewhere around the league, Don Mattingly has a new job as he is joining the Blue Jays as their bench coach. Given how much his Marlins teams seemed to enjoy throwing at Ronald Acuna Jr., him going to Canada and to the American League seems like a step in the right direction.
The Yankees very much want to bring back Aaron Judge as they apparently have an offer on the table that is in the realm of $300 million to bring him back. Even wilder is that that same report seems to indicate that the Yankees could actually go higher than that if need be.
As noted at the top of this post, the Winter Meetings are coming up and it seems like we will get a lot of clarity about the free agent market there. One team that is supposedly going to be very busy and be very willing to spend are the Phillies. After a deep run in the playoffs and with some roster holes to fill and the money to fill them, its hard to blame them.
