Another day has gone by at the Winter Meetings and the Atlanta Braves have still not made any moves. There are plausible reasons for this. While we have seen moves at the Meetings, most of the shortstop market outside of Trea Turner remains unsettled, plus Dansby Swanson is supposedly getting married this coming weekend so the team may just be waiting until later in the offseason. Plus, when it comes to starting pitchers, there are some good reasons why the Braves shouldn’t sign one anyways.

As for what the Braves SHOULD do, we have been busy over the last month putting some suggestions out there. One topic that has taken a backseat at times to shortstop has been what the Braves could do in left field during the 2023 season. One option that could work is Michael Conforto depending on how much and how many years he is looking for after being out last year.

The Rule 5 Draft will be taking place at 5 PM EST today and the Braves could select a player, although we wouldn’t bet on it as they will be picking towards the bottom of the draft and at least one of their open 40 man spots is spoken for when they decide to sign a shortstop. However, there are some players the Braves could LOSE in the Rule 5 Draft including Victor Vodnik, Indigo Diaz, and Justin Yeager although we wouldn’t call anyone particularly likely. Here is a handy piece we wrote a little while back on who the Braves have who are eligible this year.

While the Braves have been quiet, that hasn’t stopped the league from making moves as Cody Bellinger signed a one year deal with the Cubs for $17.5 million and Andrew Heaney inked a two year deal with the Rangers where he will join Jacob deGrom.

Finally, we had the first ever MLB Draft Lottery last night where all non-playoff teams from the 2022 season drew their draft positions for the 2023 MLB Draft. When the dust settled, the Pittsburgh Pirates ended up with the #1 pick in the draft.

Meanwhile, baseball fans are on Aaron Judge Watch as he looks to make a huge sum of money this winter. The Giants reportedly have extended him an offer that is in the realm of $360 million which is a silly amount of money….and it still probably doesn’t make them the favorites to sign Judge.
