Atlanta Braves Manager Fredi Gonzalez Ejected From Game To Watch Basketball
By Jeff Schafer
Atlanta Braves Manager, Fredi Gonzalez, was ejected from Thursday night’s game against the New York Yankees in the bottom of the first inning. Obviously, he wanted to go watch some of the NCAA basketball games that are on tonight…completely joking.

On the first pitch that
Shelby Millerthrew, umpire Dan Iassogna made the call that the pitch was a ball. Gonzalez wasn’t to happy about that and had some words for him. Iassogna looked in the dugout, a few more words were shared and then Gonzalez was tossed. Fredi then came out of the dugout and argued some more before heading to the clubhouse.
Gonzalez was probably upset from the last out in the top of the 1st inning. Freddie Freeman took a low pitch from Yankees pitcher Masahiro Tanaka that Iassogna called a third strike and ended the inning.

Fredi probably thought these two pitches were either comparable or the one from Tanaka was more of a ball then the one called from the arm of Miller.
“Tanaka got a generous strike zone in top of the 1st inning but I didn’t on the first pitch,” said Braves starting pitcher Miller. “As pitchers and hitters, we’re just looking for consistency.”
“I like that he (Gonzalez) was sticking up for the team,” Miller continued. “You want a manager who’ll stick up for you.”
One other note, Iassogna is from and lives in the Atlanta area…he has 29 other managers to eject, I wouldn’t recommend ejecting Atlanta’s.
The line from Miller tonight was 3.0 IP, 2 hits, 1 run, 2 strikeouts and 1 walk. The run came in the 3rd inning when Didi Gregorius lead off with a triple and later scored on a fielders choice. Miller threw 47 pitches on Thursday night and 29 were strikes.
