Is Aaron The Greatest Braves’ Player Ever?

How does one determine the greatest player who ever played for a team?  Is it preference by the fans?  Is it the statistics the player put up while playing for the team?  Does he have to be inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame?

All of these can be taken into consideration to name a team’s greatest player, which a man named “Hammerin’ Hank Aaron”, the Atlanta Braves right fielder and first baseman for twenty-one years, can be considered.

Numbers do not lie, Hank Aaron put up remarkable numbers while with the Braves.  Being selected to twenty All-Star Games, while collecting three Gold Gloves, Aaron also collected the 1956 NL Batting Title, 1957 NL MVP Award and the 1959 NL Batting Title.

More from Braves News

Aaron played in 3,076 games, while compiling a batting average of .310 and a slugging percentage of .567.  He compiled 3,600 hits and collected 2,202 RBI’s in his time with the Braves.  Aaron is also in the National Baseball Hall of Fame, being inducted in 1982.

However, one of the most amazing, record-breaking, amazing statistics for Aaron and all of Major League Baseball is his 733 home runs he hit with the Braves.

Braves Honoring Aaron This Weekend

Hammerin’ Hank not only has some of the most remarkable statistics while with the Braves, he also has his own weekend – this coming weekend – where the Braves are honoring Aaron with ‘Hank Aaron Heritage Weekend’ on Saturday night versus the Cincinnati Reds.

The Braves have dedicated this game to a great man – Hank himself – and all fans can take part.  The ticket packages for Saturday’s game include a Hammerin’ Hank mini-bat, a game ticket and a three dollar donation to the Hank Aaron Chasing the Dream Foundation, which provides grants that help children achieve their dreams and founded by Hank and Billye Aaron.

For thirty-two dollars, fans can sit in the Home Run Porch and for eighteen dollars, fans can sit in the Grandstand Reserved.  It will surely be a great game, honoring a great man.
