Simmons, Teheran lead Braves to 2-0 win over St. Louis
Andrelton Simmons‘ first two plate appearances of today’s game came with runners in scoring position, but he failed to bring a runner home either time.
Presented with another chance in that same situation in the eighth inning, Simmons finally came through, smoking a two-run double that brought home Freddie Freeman and Brian McCann to give the Braves a 2-0 lead. Craig Kimbrel slammed the door in the ninth to seal the win and record his 30th save of the season.
The Atlanta Braves opened a Waffle House at their ballpark
Waffle House, one of the most classic Southern institutions, opened a concession stand at Turner Field, home of the Atlanta Braves, Friday.
The menu at Turner Field includes classic, chocolate chip and peanut butter waffles as well as hash browns served plain, with toppings, or “all the way” — scattered and smothered with onions, cheese, chili, ham and peppers — for $9. Worth it.
Atlanta Braves Trade Rumors: Scott Downs Would Be Underrated Bullpen Addition
If the Atlanta Braves want to make one of the most underrated moves of the season, general manager Frank Wren should go out and acquire Scott Downs from the Los Angeles Angels.
Atlanta has been looking for left-handed relievers to add to its bullpen recently, and Downs is one of the players the team has targeted, according to Jayson Stark of ESPN.
