Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: The Atlanta Braves showed some fight last night and came back to win and split the two-game series with the Marlins.  The Braves and manager Brian Snitker are now 2-6 early in this 2017 season.

Ender Inciarte got things started early for the Braves in the 3rd inning as he blasted a two-run homer off Tom Koehler.  Unfortunately, Giancarlo Stanton was playing against us.  Stanton blasted two homers on Wednesday — his first homer was a moonshot and his got out of the park before you could even blink.

Stanton gave the Marlins a 4-3 lead, but Inciarte wouldn’t go into the night quiet.  In the 8th inning, he hit his second home run of the night to tie the game.

Tyler Flowers drove in Brandon Phillips in the top of the 9th inning to give the Braves the lead.  Jim Johnson closed the door in the 9th and the Braves picked up the victory.  More coverage below.

Braves foam tomahawks spill onto I-75 South in Cobb

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: A humorous moment for some, a horrible situation for others.  If you were paying attention to social media yesterday or the pregame show last night, you probably heard about this story.  If not, here it is.

Braves foam tomahawks that they sell and sometimes give-a-way at games, fell from a truck onto the interstate.  The “debris” blocked two, yes TWO, lanes of the road which started to cause major delays.

Kinda funny, but I’m sure if you were sitting in traffic because of foam tomahawks you weren’t too happy.

"Atlanta Braves foam tomahawks fell from a truck on I-75 South near the Windy Hill Road exit in Cobb County on Wednesday morning, officials said."

"The location is near new SunTrust Park, which officially opens Friday night."

"The debris blocked two left lanes, Georgia Department of Transportation officials told WSB Radio. The incident caused delays on the interstate."

Stanton’s first two homers of the season not enough against Braves

Tomahawk Take Editor’s Note: Braves win, The Braves WIN!!  Hope you stayed up a little later for the end of the game last night because Atlanta rallied to get their second win of the season.  Trailing 4-3 going into the top of the 8th inning, the Braves picked up a run in both the 8th and 9th innings to steal a win over the Miami Marlins!

Ender Inciarte hit his second homer of the game in the 8th inning off Junichi Tazawa.  On a 3-2 pitch, Ender roped a line drive right over the right field wall to tie the game 4-4.

In the 9th inning, Brandon Phillips took a walk with one out.  After Adonis Garcia (on his birthday) struck out, Tyler Flowers was at the plate.  Then, A.J. Ramos threw a wild pitch that moved Phillips into scoring position at second base.  On the next pitch, Flower hit a sharp line drive to center field that scored Phillips and put the Braves ahead!

Jim Johnson shut the door on the Marlins in the 9th inning.  He sat the Miami bats down 1-2-3 to pick up his first save of the season.

"Inciarte had only 13 career home runs in three-plus seasons in the majors before Wednesday’s game.“I think Taz was trying to go away to Inciarte, but he pulled it across the plate,” Mattingly said. “He ends up getting in a spot we didn’t want to be in. I like the pitch selection, but we didn’t execute.”Tyler Flowers then delivered the go-ahead run in the ninth on a two-out single to center field off A.J. Ramos that scored Brandon Phillips. This came moments after Phillips, who reached on a walk with one out, moved into scoring position on a wild pitch.“I didn’t throw it where I wanted to, but at the same time I’ve thrown a lot of pitches in the same spot that doesn’t get hit,” Ramos said. “Maybe I was trying to keep Phillips too close to the bag. Maybe I was worrying about him too much. I was changing my looks, changing my times to the plate. The real issue was getting Flowers. I left a ball up, and he hit it.”"
