Atlanta Braves correctly apologize for poor choice in music played at the park

Music is always played at games, but it’s a good idea to look over those

When playing sports, there are many different ways that athletes get hyped up right before a game.  Some players get the most excited by just sitting and relaxing doing nothing, while others will play video games, meditate, or read books.

But, the one thing that most athletes do to get hyped up before a game is listen to music!  Not only does the listening to music get the athlete hyped up before the game, music is played throughout the game in the stadium to get the fans excited as well and to cheer on their team!

The Atlanta Braves are no different from any other major league baseball team – they play music all throughout all of their games to get the crowd into the game and help rally the team.  However, between innings on Thursday night against the Miami Marlins, the Braves made a not so wise song choice to get the crowd hyped.

The choice – “Rock You Like a Hurricane” by the Scorpions

If you attend games at SunTrust Park, this song is in their playlist pretty much every night.  But, the timing of this being played is why people are talking about it.

With Hurricane Harvey devastated Texas last week and now Hurricane Irma is projected to hit Florida, with almost a direct hit on Miami, the song Rock You Like A Hurricane probably wasn’t the best song to play.

I get it, the song is in their playlist and has been for probably a long time, but someone should probably look over that list every now and then.  Especially the game when they gave out free tickets to Florida, Georgia and South Carolina residence who were evacuating because of the Hurricane.

Miami Marlins beat writer for the Miami Herald Clark Spencer tweeted out on Thursday night…

The Braves did a solid here by later apologizing for the song choice, as it was in the playlist at the stadium, and said it should have been removed.

Personally, I see two sides of this…yes, it should have been removed from the playlist prior to the game.  Someone overlooked it, or didn’t look it over prior to the game.  Also, people directly effected by this upcoming Hurricane could have taken offense towards the song being played.  The other side of me says, it’s a song and the Braves didn’t do this on purpose.

What the New England Patriots did on Thursday night was more savage and was a direct shot on the Atlanta Falcons.

Since the NFL season has started, let me throw this out at you…the Falcons play the Pats in a rematch of last season’s Super Bowl on October 22nd.  That should be a fun game…especially now that they did this during the pregame.

Next: Chop, box, Braves offering free tickets, Flowers

The Braves play the Marlins Saturday at 7:10pm ET and then end the series on Sunday at 1:35pm ET.  We’ll see the Marlins in the last series on the 2017 season.
